My Space - Not Your Space

I can see how people could really get into My Space. It makes sense when kids are so connected that they would want to be involved in an online place like this. I can see how it would work well if you had a book club and had the kids on your list of friends and sent them updates about books they might want to read. I wonder how parents would feel about that? And I wonder how kids would feel about their Space being "invaded" by adults. Even if the invasion was from an adult they knew and liked.

I imagine I will leave my page pretty plain as it takes so much time to change - but I may find a few minutes to do some customizing.

Hi, Storygirl! I agree with your comments about MySpace. Many of my friends have a MySpace, and, though it's considered "cool" if you have one, I constantly hear stories about bad things happening due to a MySpace. I don't think I would want to risk my privacy and safety just to have an account; however, it would be fun to customize it!
P.S. I love that you're a librarian! I am considering that as a career!

Thank you for your comments sabbie! I definitely think kids should be careful. Yes, being a librarian is a great profession - it's never dull and you get to be around lots of books, information and wonderful kids. If you are considering librarianship as a career you should talk to a librarian at your local library and see if you can "shadow" them for a few hours to see if you would like it. I have done that at my library and it's a great experience for the person doing the shadowing and the librarian.
